Papers of Starkweather, a Civil War general, consisting of a letter dated Milwaukee, Wis., Aug. 29, 1861, to Governor Randall regarding the presentation of the regimental flag to the 1st Wisconsin Infantry Regiment; a list of those killed and wounded from the 1st Wisconsin at the Battle of Chaplin Hills, Ky., Oct. 8, 1862; an 1864 oversized document commissioning Starkweather a Brigadier General, signed by Abraham Lincoln and Edwin Stanton; the Army record of General Starkweather, dated Washington, D.C., Dec. 10, 1886; and an oversized certificate of membership in the Society of the Army of the Cumberland, signed by P. H. Sheridan, May 4, 1867.
